On September 19, 2024, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) exclusively invited 4,000 Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates in the latest Express Entry draw. Candidates who received an ITA in this draw were required to have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 509.
This latest Express Entry draw marks the third of the month, following two draws held last week. In those, 911 candidates were invited through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), and 1,000 candidates were invited in a category-based selection for French-language proficiency. This latest draw is the largest CEC-specific draw since July 31, when 5,000 ITAs were issued.
The minimum CRS score requirement for this draw is slightly higher than the previous CEC draw, where a minimum score of 507 was needed on August 27.

Express Entry System
Express Entry is an application management system that was launched in 2015 to manage three major economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class. The system utilizes the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to assess an applicant based on factors such as language proficiency, work experience, educational background, and age. Applicants with the highest scores are invited to apply for permanent residency in Canada.
Points are also awarded for additional factors like having a sibling in Canada or strong language proficiency in both English and French.
Last year, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) introduced category-based selection draws, targeting applicants with specific skill sets, such as work experience in healthcare, STEM professions, trades, agriculture, or French language proficiency. These categories are selected to fulfill labor shortages and support Canada’s demographic goals, which include settling newcomers in French-speaking communities outside Quebec.
Next Steps for Applicants
Once the Invitations to Apply (ITAs) are issued, applicants have 60 days to submit their final application to IRCC. The department aims to process these applications within six months. Express Entry continues to be a vital pathway for skilled workers looking to make Canada their permanent home, especially through targeted programs like the Canadian Experience Class.
