Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has held its eleventh all-program Express Entry draw of 2023 and issued 3500 invitations to apply (ITAs) to applicants with a minimum comprehensive ranking system (CRS) score of 483.
The all-program draw includes candidates from the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP). This express entry draw follows the one held on April 12 in which 3500 applicants were invited with a minimum CRS score of 486.
The draw conducted on April 12 issued half the number of invitations compared to the draws held on March 15, March 23, and March 29, all of which invited 7000 applicants over the two weeks instead of the usual bi-weekly draws. Additionally, The CRS score also increased from 481 to 486. The draw size and increased CRS score are consistent with previous draws conducted in 2022 and early 2023.
Express Entry’s March Achievements
March 2023 witnessed over 21,000 invitations to apply in a single month. This was the second-highest number of invitations ever issued in the history of Express Entry. The highest number of invitations issued in a month was when 27,332 CEC applicants were invited in a single draw in February 2021.
In March, Express Entry conducted four draws instead of the usual biweekly schedule on Wednesdays. The first draw on March 1 issued 667 ITAs specifically for Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates. The next three draws on March 8, 17, and 24 invited 7,000 candidates each, making it the largest-ever all-program draw. In total, 21,000 candidates were invited in these three draws and the monthly total of ITAs issued was 21,667.
Express Entry System
Express Entry is an application management system that was started in 2015 to assess and rank applicants from the federal economic class immigration programs: the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).
Applicants in these programs are highly skilled and economically established in Canada. This application management system considers the Comprehensive Ranking System to assess the applicants based on human capital factors such as work experience, occupation, language ability, and education. The one who scores the highest is likely to get an invitation to apply in the recent Express Entry draw. If an applicant receives an ITA, they have 60 days to submit their application to the IRCC. After which, an immigration officer reviews the application and decides if the applicant is approved for permanent residence or not.
