The Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) has officially opened its 2026 Expression of Interest intake, offering employers a new opportunity to sponsor foreign workers for permanent residence. The intake opened on January 19, 2026, and will close on January 30, 2026, at 4:30 pm Yukon Standard Time.
For 2026, Yukon has received an allocation of 282 nominations from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, reinforcing the territory’s role in addressing labour shortages while retaining workers already contributing to the local economy.
How the 2026 Yukon EOI System Works
Employers must submit an online expression of interest, providing details about the foreign national they wish to sponsor. Applications are ranked using a points-based system aligned with Yukon’s labour priorities.
Important to note:
- EOIs from 2025 do not carry forward
- Employers must reapply during this intake to be considered
- The highest-scoring submissions will receive invitations to apply
2026 Yukon Nominee Program Priority Categories
Yukon has clearly defined its priorities for the year, focusing on candidates with strong territorial ties and critical skills. Priority groups include:
- Regulated healthcare professionals
- Employers located in rural Yukon
- Foreign nationals who:
- Have lived and worked in Yukon for at least 1 year
- Graduated from Yukon University
- Are Francophone or French-speaking
- Received a Temporary Measure Letter of Support in 2024 or 2025
Candidates holding a Temporary Measure Letter of Support do not need to submit a new EOI and will be contacted directly.
What Employers and Workers Should Know
The Yukon government has confirmed that all 282 nominations must be used by December 31, 2026. A second intake is already scheduled for July 6 to July 17, 2026, giving employers another opportunity later in the year.
For workers, strong Yukon work experience, community ties, and employer support significantly improve selection chances.
Why Yukon Remains Attractive for Immigration
Unlike larger provinces, Yukon offers smaller intake pools and targeted selection, making it an appealing option for candidates who may struggle to compete in national Express Entry draws. The territory continues to focus on retention, community stability, and long-term settlement.
The opening of the 2026 Yukon Nominee Program intake signals continued reliance on employer-driven immigration. For candidates with Yukon experience or employers facing staffing shortages, this intake represents a valuable pathway to permanent residence.
