Canada Education System

Study Permit: As per the new norms and regulations after Covid-19, the country requires international student to apply for study permits if they want to study in Canada. For the study permit application, the applicant is required to have an acceptance letter from a Designated Learning Institution(DLI) in Canada.
English and/or French Proficiency: French and English are Canada’s official languages. Thus, to study in Canada, an applicant is required to showcase proficiency in either of the languages by taking an approved language test for academic purpose.
Credentials Assessment: International students are required to have their education credential evaluated as they are required to present Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) equivalent to the Canadian credential.
The Structure of the Canadian Education System:
The general Canadian Education System comprises of four levels:
- Pre-elementary school: It refers to the kindergarten education.
- Elementary school: It refers to grade one to six education.
- Secondary school: It has two levels; junior high school (grades seven and eight) and high school (grades nine, ten, eleven, and twelve).
- Post-secondary education: It refers to college education pursued after graduation from high school.
Furthermore, universities in Canada offer higher education in a variety of subjects in their colleges and specialized trade schools.
University or College Selection: An international student is recommended to a study program that has been approved from the Post-Graduate Work Permit Program as it provides the applicant with work opportunities to international students with high chances of permanent residency.
College and University Admission: Every college/university in Canada has different tuition fees, application processes, and set of requirements as per its province. Thus, after the college has been finalized, it is recommended to review their admission process; and begin the application process at least 12 months before the application date. Students applying through Student Direct Stream can gain a study permit in 20 days.
Special Education: The students who require extra attention and face struggle in school, for Canada offers numerous programs that assess these children and offer required assistance.
