The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) held a draw on November 9, 2023, and issued 16 Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to eligible candidates with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 305. This targeted draw specifically focused on healthcare professionals who hold an Alberta job offer.
AAIP Processing Times
AAIP provides average processing times for each stream to help applicants understand the time frame involved in application processing. The processing time begins when an AAIP officer is assigned to review the application and decide its eligibility. There is a plethora of factors that can affect the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) processing times, including the quality of the application, the volume of applications received, the application submission date, and the remaining nomination certificates for the year.
Express Entry Draws
AAIP regularly reviews and evaluates the pool of available applicants in the federal Express Entry system. Based on the information in the Express Entry pool, AAIP selects eligible candidates and invites them to apply under the AAIP.
Alberta Express Entry Stream Selection Criteria
The selection criteria for the Alberta Express Entry Stream in 2023 are as follows:
In-Demand Occupations and Family Ties
Thirty-one percent of nominations will be allocated to applicants who are in-demand occupations and have family members residing in Alberta.
Job Offers in Key Sectors
Twenty-three percent of nominations will be granted to candidates with job offers in Alberta’s construction, healthcare, hospitality, agriculture, and tourism sectors.
IRCC Sets Nomination Certificate Limits
The Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) sets an annual limit for AAIP nomination certificates. In 2023, AAIP is authorized to issue 9,750 nomination certificates for Express Entry and non-Express Entry pathways. This number is expected to exceed 10,000 in both 2024 and 2025.
AAIP’s Commitment to Addressing Alberta’s Labor Shortage
Through these regular draws and targeted selection criteria, AAIP demonstrates its commitment to addressing Alberta’s labor shortage by attracting and retaining skilled immigrants, particularly in the healthcare sector. By inviting healthcare professionals with Alberta job offers, AAIP ensures that these individuals can quickly integrate into the province’s workforce and contribute to improving healthcare services for Albertans.
