Manitoba Skilled Worker Work Experience Stream
If you’re already working in Manitoba on a valid work permit, you may be closer to permanent residence than you think. The Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream rewards employees who have built a genuine track record with a Manitoba employer, turning ongoing employment into a nomination.
ImmigCanada regularly helps temporary foreign workers confirm their qualifying employment period, prepare a settlement plan that reflects real ties to Manitoba, and build an EOI profile around their existing job and employer relationship.
| Stream Name | Skilled Worker in Manitoba (SWM) |
| Program | Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) |
| Connection Required | Ongoing Manitoba employment of 6+ months |
| Job Offer | Required: permanent, full-time, from the same MB employer |
| Work Permit | Must be valid at the time of application |
| Selection | Expression of Interest plus adaptive points |
What Is the Manitoba Skilled Worker Work Experience Stream?
Manitoba Skilled Worker Work Experience Stream is for candidates who have already worked full-time for the same Manitoba employer for at least six continuous months on a valid work permit, and who hold a permanent, full-time job offer to continue in that role. Graduates who studied outside Manitoba need a longer 12-month employment record before applying. The underlying idea, consistent with the rest of the Provincial Nominee Program, is that sustained, verified employment is one of the strongest indicators of successful long-term settlement.

What Employment and Employer Conditions Apply?
The employer must also be able to demonstrate genuine, ongoing capacity to offer full-time, long-term employment, and the job offer needs to reasonably match the applicant’s training, licensing, or certification.
| Requirement | Detail |
| Duration | 6+ months continuous full-time with the same Manitoba employer (12 months for out-of-province graduates) |
| Work Permit | Valid throughout the qualifying employment and at the time of application |
| Employer Status | An established, registered Manitoba business actively operating in the province |
| Excluded Work | Self-employment, independent contracting, unauthorized work, and study-permit co-op work do not qualify |
What Language and Settlement Requirements Apply?
There is no single published CLB score for this stream, but applicants must show sufficient language proficiency to perform their job duties and to economically establish in Manitoba, generally in the range of CLB 5 or higher for most occupations. A written Settlement Plan is also mandatory, describing housing, employment, community integration, and family ties, along with evidence that the applicant’s connection to Manitoba is stronger than any tie to another province.
How Does the EOI and Draw Process Work?
Applicants create an online EOI profile, and Manitoba scores it using adaptive points covering language, age, work experience, education, employment duration, and Manitoba connection factors such as a spouse’s language ability or relatives already living in the province. Regular draws invite the highest-scoring candidates, who then receive a Letter of Advice to Apply and 60 days to submit a full application. Processing for this stream typically runs about four to six months once a complete application is submitted, after which nomination clears the way for a federal permanent residence application under the wider Provincial Nominee Program structure.
